Lead VPK Teacher

Grades: Pre-Kindergarten (VPK)

The Lead VPK Teacher is the backbone of our early childhood program and leads our overall classroom experience and culture. This role involves planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate instructional program that encourages students to fulfill their academic and social potential. You will provide a safe environment designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth in accordance with Florida VPK standards. The Lead Teacher provides day-to-day supervision of students and classroom staff, develops individual goals for students, and encourages parent involvement. This role takes direction from the Principal and Assistant Principal.

Employment Status and Schedule:

This is a full-time, exempt, year-round position

Teachers must be in the classroom to greet students at 8:00 AM and stay 
on campus until 3:00 PM. Teachers may utilize their planning period 
before school (7:00 AM to 8:00 AM), after school (3:00 PM to 4:00 PM), 
or at home. We view teachers as professionals and trust you will manage 
your planning time effectively.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Instructional
    • Identify and select accommodating instructional techniques to meet students' varying needs which may include:
      • Review the Individualized Education Program (IEP) & medical records of our students.
      • Record all pertinent information, including but not limited to: allergies, any medical conditions and behavior concerns.
      • Review this information with the Teaching Assistant and make it available for reference.
      • Adhere to accommodations/modifications listed on Student Needs Overview
    • Communicate with students, parents, therapists, and other professionals regarding student progress.
    • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures and applying appropriate disciplinary measures where necessary.
  • Student Accommodations and Success
    • Identify instructional techniques to meet varying needs, including reviewing medical records or Individual Educational Plans (IEP) for students with disabilities.

    • Record and manage information regarding allergies, medical conditions, and behavior concerns.

    • Coordinate with the Teaching Assistant to ensure all student needs are met.

    • Communicate regularly with parents and therapists regarding student progress.

    • Manage classroom behavior by establishing age-appropriate routines and positive reinforcement.

  • Supervision and Evaluation
    • Provide direction and mentorship to the Teaching Assistant.

    • Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment.

    • Plan and attend field trips and school events that correspond to the VPK program.

    • Schedule parent conferences each semester or as needed.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer proficiency.

  • High energy, patience, and flexibility to work with young children.

Education & Certifications:
Eligible candidates must meet the following requirements:

  1. Required: Completion of the DCF 45-hour introductory child care training.

  2. Required: Current VPK Director Credential or a valid Florida Professional Educator’s Certificate in a relevant area (Pre-K, Preschool Education, Primary Education, or Family and Consumer Science).

  3. Preferred: A Child Development Associate (CDA) or a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.

  4. Preferred: Current certification in First Aid and CPR.

Lead Teacher

Grades: Elementary or Middle

The Lead Teacher is the backbone of our schools and leads our overall classroom experience and culture. The Lead Teacher plans, organizes, and implements an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages our students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This person provides a safe environment and instruction for children designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth. The Lead Teacher provides day-to-day supervision of students and classroom staff. The role develops individual goals for our students and encourages parents’ involvement in all aspects of the program. This role takes direction from the Principal and respective Assistant Principal.

Employment Status and Schedule:
 This is a full-time, exempt position with a 10-month term during the school year and a mutual offer with intent to return in subsequent school years.

Teachers must be in the classroom to greet students at 8:00AM and stay on campus until 3:00PM. Teachers may utilize their planning period before school (7AM – 8AM) or afterschool (3PM – 4PM) or at home. We view teachers as professionals and trust you will get your planning done.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Create instructional activities that facilitate an active learning experiences for our students:
      • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
      • Plan, prepare, and deliver schemes of work and lesson plans, using approved Christ-centered curriculum established with administration.
      • Submit lesson plans as required.
      • Create substitute plans prepared and available in case of absence or emergency.
    • Prepare classroom and provide a variety of learning materials and resources to ensure students receive an excellent learning experience.
    • Monitor the progress of individual students, maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development as required by school regulations
    • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments, and provide appropriate feedback on progress and development.
    • Keep up to date with developments in subject areas, teaching resources and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities.

    • Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings, etc.
    • Schedule parent conferences each semester, or as needed.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Must be available to be on campus during the scheduled work hours.

Education & Certifications:
Eligible candidates must meet at least one of the following requirements to teach:

  • 1. Certified Teacher, or
  • 2. A Bachelor’s degree in education in related field, or
  • 3. A minimum of three years teaching experience is preferred at public or private schools, or
  • 4. Special skills, knowledge, or expertise that allows effective teaching of a curriculum in a specific subject area

Teaching Assistant

The Teaching Assistant is a great opportunity for anyone interested in gaining experience in the educational sector and, more importantly, anyone who enjoys spending time with students and making a difference in improving our students’ lives. This person provides full support to the Teacher and assists in all day-to-day classroom activities and student care. This role takes direction from the Teacher and is a significant contributor and steward to the overall classroom experience and culture.

Employment Status and Schedule:
This is a part-time, non-exempt position, with a 10-month term during the school year and a mutual offer with intent to return subsequent school years. The daily work schedule is typically 8:00AM until 3:00PM with a 30minute non-paid lunch break. Some employees may work morning or aftercare if needed. 

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Instructional Support
  • Assist Teachers in academic, emotional, intellectual, and social development of our students.
  • Provide instruction, as planned by the Teacher, to small groups of students.
  • Supervise the classroom in the absence of the Teacher.
Classroom Management
  • Monitor and report/correct behavior and document and report problems with students per procedure.
  • Supervise non-academic activities such as physical education, recess, and bathroom and lunchroom duties, and assist with car line as discussed with the Teacher.
  • Support the Teacher in monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records.
Administrative Tasks
  • Support the Teacher with administrative activities that may include grading papers, making copies, etc.
  • Prepare and organize classroom material and resources.
  • Help with the setup and cleanup of classroom activities and projects.
  • Provide simple daily housekeeping duties in the classroom.       •
Student Accommodations and Success
  • Provide one-on-one support to students as needed. 
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Assist with social and emotional development of students.
  • Promote positive student interactions.
  • Attend all field trips.
  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Attend classroom meeting, held weekly with the Teacher.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to support student learning and school initiatives.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.   
Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age.
